ISLE OF SKYE ELOPEMENT - Diana Cermakova

Diana Cermakova

“He reached across the table and touched her hair. There was something tremendously real about the way it felt. Like life itself, it was hard and smooth, far away……”

One day in Scotland, I witnessed a story of love and the life promises made under the Hills of Isle of Skye in the weather as unpredictable as only life can be.

While I tried to put this blog together “Everyman’s Poetry was lying on the table in front of me. The book written by most famous Scottish poet Robert Burns well known as a pioneer of the Romantic Movement so I decided to mix this blog with his and other’s poems. Though I doubt there is something more romantic than Scotland itself I hope you will enjoy both the pictures and the poetry.

till a’ the seas gang dry my dear
and rocks melt wi’ the sun
and i will luve thee still my dear
while sands o’ life shall run

“Love is the emblem of eternity: it confounds all notion of time: effaces all memory of a beginning, all fear of an end.”

“I hate waiting. But if waiting means being able to be with you, I’ll wait for as long as forever to be with you”

But to see her was to love her, Love but her, and love forever. Had we never lou’d sae kindly, Had we never lou’d sae blindly, Never met – or never parted – We had ne’er been broken hearted

“Not only did I love her,
but I could tell the universe loved her, too.
More than others. She was different.
After all; I would be a fool not to notice the way  the sunshine played with her hair.”

“love is a feeling we can experience but never explain”

“Being with her I feel a pain, like a frozen knife stuck in my chest. An awful pain, but the funny thing is I’m thankful for it. It’s like that frozen pain and my very existence are one. The pain is an anchor, mooring me here.”

“now join your hands and with your hands your hearts”

Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.

Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.

Now there is no more loneliness,
For each of you will be companion to the other.

Now you are two bodies,
But there is one life before you.

Go now to your dwelling place,
To enter into the days of your togetherness.
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.

O my Luve is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve is like the melody
That’s sweetly played in tune.

‘You and I, it’s as though we have been taught to kiss in heaven and sent down to earth together, to see if we know what we were taught.’

“She looked my demons in the eye and smiled. She fell for the very thing I thought she’d fear.”

“She walks in Beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that’s best of dark and bright

meet in her aspect and her eyes.”

“You said “us” and in that moment, I knew words were magic”

Your heart knows the way. Run in that direction.

“If you look for a meaning, you’ll miss everything that happens.”
